EMERGENCY
1. Pitot Heat Switch -- ON.
2. Turn back or change altitude to obtain an outside air temperature less conducive to icing.
3. Cabin Heat -- FULL OUT; Defroster Outlets -- OPEN. Adjust cabin air for maximum defroster heat and airflow.
4. Watch for signs of engine-related icing. If engine speed decreases unexpectedly, change throttle position as required for maximum RPM and adjust mixture for maximum RPM.
5. Landing -- PLAN at the nearest airport. With extremely rapid ice buildup, select a suitable off-airport landing site.
6. With 1/4 inch or more ice on the wing leading edges -- EXPECT significantly higher stall speed and a longer landing roll.
7. Wing Flaps -- LEAVE RETRACTED.
8. Left Window -- OPEN and, if practical, scrape ice from a portion of the windshield for landing visibility.
9. Landing Approach -- USE a forward slip if necessary for improved visibility.
10. Approach -- 65 to 75 KIAS depending on the amount of ice accumulation.
11. Landing -- PERFORM in a level attitude.
